A Belated Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I guess it is quite appropriate to send these wishes any day since there is always something to be thankful for.

Here I am once again back to highlight some of the things happening in church each week.

Many of you are delighted to know that the Ascension Café is starting on Sunday, October 16. The plan is to begin at 9:30 a.m. which is prior to the 11 a.m. service. The idea is to drop in for breakfast on your way to attend the service. (On that note, donations of marmalade and jam would be much appreciated.)

Several people have been inquiring about where to donate to help those suffering from the lost and devastation from hurricane Fiona. Apparently, the Canadian government is matching donations made by individuals supporting the Canadian Red Cross’ Hurricane Fiona appeal. The site to make this donation is https://donate.redcross.ca/page/114083/donate/l?locale=en-CA

Although it is recommended that you wear masks in church, they are not required at this time. However, it is respectfully requested that you wear your mask while singing during the service.

We are all noticing the rising price of groceries these days. Of course, there are many who find it extremely difficult. If you are able, it would be greatly appreciated if you add an item or two to the food bank box at the entrance to the church from time to time.

If you are one of those who like to do things in advance, then you will appreciate that you now know our Advent Project for this year. It is once again ‘St. Margaret’s Boat’ and it is going to be the collecting spot for women’s items for Iris Kirby House. Suggestions (things needed) are: drug store gift card, women’s slippers (all sizes), women’s pajamas (all sizes), towels, grocery gift cars, pillows, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The boat will be set up on November 11. Thanks in advance for your support in this ministry.

Special thanks to those who came out to decorate the church for Thanksgiving Sunday. Your help was greatly appreciated.

Do you like to sing? Would you like to add your singing voice to the church choir? Mrs. Kearley has choir practices each Wednesday evening – feel free to come along.

That’s it, folks!

God Bless you all,

Jean (On behalf of the Ascension)
