I imagine you all had a wonderful thanksgiving with family and friends – lots of food, laughter, and well wishes. I trust we also took special moments during that time to realize God’s many blessings to us each and every day. So very often we credit our successes in life to our own personal skills and abilities and forget God’s part in our lives. Let’s remember to take time always to give thanks to the Holy One.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!
(Psalm 100:4)

A few things to make note of:

If you are planning to enjoy a cold plate supper ($15) on Friday, October 27, you can purchase a ticket or two from the office during the weekdays from 9 until noon, or after church service on Sunday. Deadline for tickets is Sunday, October 22. (Donations of cookies please to go along with the dinners – thank you.)

Confirmation Registration will take place on Sunday, November 5, following the 11 a.m. service. Important information will be provided at the time of registration. If you have a son or daughter who would like to be confirmed in 2024, she/he needs to be 11 years old by December 31, 2023.

The Breakfast with the Bishop planned for October 21 had to be postponed for now. You will be notified of the changed date later.

A few of our parishioners are going to make Christmas puddings which will be selling for $20 each. If you want to enjoy one of these delicious puddings at Christmas, you must add your name to the order form at the entrance of the church or call the office by November 3 at noon. Then you will be available for pickup on Friday, November 17, from 9 to noon.

Please remember to PRINT the name of your loved ones in the book at the entrance of the church if you want their name read during the All Souls’ Service on November 2 at 7 p.m.

I know groceries are very expensive these days – we all feel it. However, if you can manage it at all, an extra item or two for those who must depend on the food bank each week would be most appreciated. Our food bank box is at the entrance to the church. Thanks for your support!

Youth group – your next get-together is on Friday, October 27, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, from 7 to 9 p.m. If you are 12 or older, you are invited!

That’s it, folks,
Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jean (On behalf of the Ascension)
