Next Sunday, February 11, is Transfiguration Sunday, or the fifth Sunday after the Epiphany.  The Transfiguration narrative as seen in the Gospels acts as a further revelation of the identity of Jesus as the Son of God.  The Transfiguration pulled a veil aside for Peter, James, and John and allowed them to see Christ’s glory prior to his crucifixion, therefore giving us also as readers of the Word another glimpse of Jesus as divine. 

A few important reminders/notices for you:

  • This is a reminder of the free community supper take-out meal served from the entrance to the Church of the Good Shepherd this evening from 5 to 6 p.m.  If you or someone you know could use such a meal, please drop by.
  • St. Margaret’s Boat is anchored in the side foyer.  Feel free to bring your donations anytime now.  Thanks in anticipation of your support for this worthwhile Lenten Outreach Project.
  • The Annual General Meeting will be held on March 10 at noon – that’s immediately following the 11 a.m. church service.  The Alternate Sunday in case of inclement weather is March 17.  Please make it a point to be present – it’s your meeting! On that note, if you haven’t submitted your report yet, it is due by February 9!
  • Bible Study with the theme ‘Followers of Jesus” will be held every Wednesday morning at 10:30 during Lent.  There is a sign-up sheet at the entrance to the church or you can call the office to have your name added to the list. Also, during Lent on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. there will be BCP Service of Compline.
  • Did you take your ticket yet to prepare a dish and attend the potluck supper on February 22?
  • Mark your calendars also for the Frosty Festival Ecumenical Service to be held at First United Church on February 11 at 7 p.m.
  • Church calendars ($6) are still available from the church office during the week or after service on Sunday.
  • Vestry members, please make note of your meeting tomorrow, Thursday, February 8, at 7 p.m.
  • Income tax time is approaching – you can pick up your2023 income tax receiptsat the entrance of the church.  If they are not picked up by the end of February, they will be mailed to the address on file.
  • Last, but not least, the World Day of Prayer Servicethis year is being held on Friday, March 1, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Families Church on Ashford Drive (formerly St. Peter’s). All are welcome!
